About Us

Flatiron Meal Plan was founded in 2001 by childhood friends Drew Pendergrass and Alex Woodbury, who grew up together in upstate New York. A shared love of camping, hiking, skiing, and the outdoors brought us to Colorado after graduating from college in 1999. Once we landed in Boulder, we saw an opportunity to create an off-campus meal plan that would give CU students more flexibility, convenience, and value while supporting local restaurants and businesses.

More than two decades later, Flatiron Meal Plan remains a locally owned and family-operated business. Today, Drew and his wife Michelle, a proud CU Boulder graduate, oversee the day-to-day operations of the company. Building on that same community spirit, in 2023 they also launched The Boulder Store, a CU apparel and gift shop located alongside the Flatiron Meal Plan office on The Hill.

One of the things we appreciate most is how full-circle this journey has become. We started Flatiron Meal Plan to serve CU students, and now our own children are part of the CU community. Drew and Michelle’s oldest son, Henry, recently completed his freshman year at CU, while Alex and his wife Allison’s oldest daughter, Elsa, also just finished her freshman year there. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch the university continue to play such an important role in our families’ lives.

You’ll find both Flatiron Meal Plan and The Boulder Store at 1163 13th Street, Unit A, on The Hill, right next door to the iconic Boulder restaurant, The Sink. Being part of The Hill neighborhood and the CU community has been central to our story from the very beginning.

As a family-owned business, we’re proud to help students and families navigate college life while supporting the local restaurants and businesses that make Boulder such a special place. We look forward to continuing to serve the CU community for many years to come.
